Personally, I think that although feminism was a good idea from the start; it has gone too far. We are now beginnning to become dominant and abusive towards men. It seems that we can discriminate, however, they cannot. Think of it, we have womens athletic clubs, however not men. If there is a problem with money in sports, mens sports must go first, not womens. Even though womens sports do not bring near the profit of mens. I am proud to be a woman, however, I consider this something that we shouldnt be proud of. We want to become better and stronger, not have it brought to us on a silver platter. We are strong, and we have to prove it, not whine and stomp our feet that its not equal. We have to make our attack slowly and without a lot of attention. Walk softly and carry a big stick.

The power that middle-class women had achieved in the home was now used by them in order to gain access to another world characterised by, as they saw it, poverty, drink, vice and ignorance. During the Second World War women were called for to help out in the war effort because there was a shortage of men. This for many women was an entirely new experience that the majority enjoyed as compared to their role as a housewife, so after the war many women chose to keep their jobs. However as time went on women began to realise that they happened to be doing exactly the same work as what their male counterparts were doing, with the exception that the women were not being paid half as much as the men due to the employers fears of losing money and trade unionist fears that equal pay for women would lower the wages for men. Women decided to stand up and fight for the wage that they deserved.

Christopher McGeary Discursive Essay Equality for Women in the Workplace: Adam Without Eve? The debate about women being treated as equals in the workplace has been a continuous issue for a number of years now. Women are constantly proving themselves to be an asset to the world of work, but still have to campaign and fight for equality. Could men really cope without women within the workplace? Could Adam have coped without Eve? Women are continually showing themselves to be more than capable. This can be told from the exam results received by both men and women. When the results are compared they show that women are much higher achievers than men. Since the early 1980's, the standards of achievement for all have been rising, but because of the differential rates of improvements, girls are still performing better than boys. Throughout all the subjects offered at G.C.S.E level, girls are presently gaining more A* grades in every subject with the exception of mathematics and physics although at A* level the results take a reversible change.

Parents and guardians will otherwise be fined. Amendments have also been made to the law: relevant provisions have been made to protect enrollment, degrees and scholarships. There is greater meritocracy, and relevant rewards are given out based on capability, not gender. This will create many chances for women to step up in the society and education will also level out the playing field substantially, making the world closer to achieving gender equality. To evaluate, I feel that equal opportunities in education is the most important step to allowing women to stand on the same grounds as men as through it, women are able to equal out the playing field and gain ground in the other areas of the social construct, in politics, economics (as knowledge is power in these two fields) and sports (as talent is as good as nil if there is no recognition of sort, which can be provided by an institution). Thus, to conclude, our biological aspect is not an appropriate yardstick to gauge gender equality, as it cannot be changed, and with strong and solid evidence as given above, we can see that there is a trend of having great improvements in gender equality despite biological differences. Furthermore, gender equality is not dependent on biology alone as it is socially agreed upon (and as can be seen, the only social aspect that concerns the biological makeup is sports, and even in that can improvements in gender equality be seen), and can be achieved through changes in the social construct (as proven in politics, economics, sports and education). Hence, I disagree to the hypothesis.
